The Companion VI features a full 3 octave range in a 15/14 standard layout with a 1" string spacing. It is made entirely of hardwoods: cherrywood, maple and mahogany. No plywood or veneer used in this design! It's entirely made from top quality materials. Based on the very popular Companion V model, this instrument has more playable range and deeper resonance. It is the largest model in the Companion series.

This is a previously owned Companion VI built and sold in 1996 and was very well kept. There was one repair done to the back of the dulcimer in 1998 by Griffin Music but it does not affect the tone quality of the instrument, and the aesthetic impact is minimal. You can see in one of the pictures the five screws installed on the bottom surface of the instrument. (If we didn't mention it was a repair, you probably wouldn't know!)

Griffin Music has recently restored the finish on the dulcimer to virtually factory new condition. It is a beautiful instrument! As the wood has aged for about 20 years now (it was aged 8 years before the instrument was built), the dulcimer is currently in its best tonal quality and will continue to be in its prime for years and years to come.
